Appropriation in Visual Art, but what about Music?

Abstract


The article explores appropriation theory and practice in visual art and music. Although the appropriation method in visual art is relatively new and  connected mostly with postmodern avant-garde movements, its theory has been actively developed during the last decades of XXth century. On the contrary, the history of music was always connected with appropriation practice, but this phenomenon, as well as the term «appropriation», still has not been considered fully enough in special musicological research.
